Two Green Candidate's stand for Local Elections

On Monday 9 July 2018 the Isle of Man Green Party held a Party meeting that resolved to endorse two candidates in the approaching local council elections in Ramsey, South Ward, and Douglas, Derby Ward.

Party Chairman Andrew Bentley was proposed to and endorsed to run on the Green Ticket in the Douglas, Derby Ward, election that will be held on Thursday 9 August 2018.  Executive Election Strategy Coordinator, Dan Webb was proposed and endorsed to run on the Green Ticket in the Ramsey, South Ward, of Thursday 19 July 2018.

 Party Leader, Andrew Newton, outlined that these were the first candidates running for office on behalf of the Party, and that this is the next step along the strategic plan for a sustainable future of the Isle of Man.  Andrew Bentley, architect and candidate in Douglas for the Party said “My hope is to make a positive contribution to the regeneration of the nation's capital for the benefit of the people of Derby Ward, Douglas and the Isle of Man”.  Dan Webb, auditor and candidate in Ramsey said “I’m excited to have the opportunity to represent the Isle of Man Green Party in a by-election in my childhood town. If the people of Ramsey decide to elect me I will look to safeguard their interests and the interests of the beautiful environment we live in”.

 The next Green Party meeting will be taking place at the Mitre Hotel in Ramsey on Tuesday 17 July 2018 between 1800-1930.  The Party is planning further meetings around the Island to engage with local residents and develop its policy on matters of the sustainable future of Transport, Health, Waste and Energy in the Isle of Man.
